Tone Characteristics: Informative, dense, conceptual Green-washing: that little term coined by Jay Westerveld in the 1980s who became outraged after he took notice of his hotel leaflet informing him that washing once-used towels produces masses of chemical waste products on top of contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. Westerveld, a green activist, clearly saw the true motives of the hotel, as they were certainly not in business to improve the well-being of the planet, they were in business to maximize shareholder returns. This cost effective way of attributing guilt onto their guests for the externalities of the hotel's services could, on a large scale, save them thousands every year. Writing Assignment #4

Out of the two options, the case study seems more appealing than the idea pitch. Firstly I would need to pick a business involved in Social Entrepreneurship and      1. Provide a description and analysis of the enterprise's mission/vision statement     2. A lean business model analysis     3. A prescriptive element that addresses a strategic weakness Candidates for me so far are DIFF Eyewear (Buy One-Give One) which donates glasses to developing countries, all though they are technically a charity. Another idea is the Susan G. Komen Foundation. These guys have had their share of controversy and would make an excellent class discussion if it would come to it.
